AI-suggested

Red Hat has released an official security update for GIMP in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 that addresses this vulnerability. Users should apply the update as described in the Red Hat advisory RHSA-2026:75575. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in GIMP's ICO file loader due to an integer overflow during buffer size calculation when processing ICO files with embedded PNG images. This flaw could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a crash by crafting a malicious ICO file and convincing a user to open it. Red Hat has issued a security update for GIMP in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 to address this issue.
