Technical Analysis

The Easy PayPal & Stripe Buy Now Button WordPress plugin before version 2.0.6 suffers from an external control of an assumed-immutable web parameter (CWE-472). Specifically, the payment amount is not derived or validated on the server side but taken directly from a client-supplied field. This flaw enables an unauthenticated attacker to manipulate the payment amount to a lower value, undermining the integrity of the purchase process.

Potential Impact

An attacker can reduce the payment amount for a purchase by manipulating the client-supplied payment amount parameter. This compromises the integrity of transactions by allowing unauthorized price modifications. There is no impact on confidentiality or availability reported. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 5.3 (medium severity), indicating limited impact primarily on transaction integrity.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fixed version 2.0.6 or later is available that addresses this issue by properly deriving the payment amount on the server side. Users of affected versions (>=1.8 <2.0.6) should upgrade to version 2.0.6 or later to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation steps are indicated.
