Technical Analysis

The BSK PDF Manager WordPress plugin through version 3.8.1 fails to properly sanitize and escape a parameter before incorporating it into a SQL statement. This flaw permits authenticated users with contributor-level permissions or above to conduct SQL injection attacks. Exploiting this vulnerability could allow unauthorized reading of sensitive database information, such as administrator password hashes, potentially compromising site security.

Potential Impact

Authenticated users with contributor-level access or higher can exploit this vulnerability to perform SQL injection attacks. This may lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive data stored in the database, including administrator password hashes, which could facilitate further compromise of the WordPress site.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict contributor-level access and above to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity related to database queries involving the plugin.
