Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Apache Software Foundation
Product: Apache Roller

Description

Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting') in Apache Roller 6.1.5 allows a remote attacker to perform reflected cross-site scripting through the optional LDAP comment authenticator, which writes request parameter values into its HTML form without escaping. This affects only sites configured to use LdapCommentAuthenticator, and a victim whose session has already loaded the authenticator form must follow a crafted link. Users are recommended to upgrade to Apache Roller 6.1.6 or later, which escapes the reflected values.

Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-91206 is a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability in Apache Roller version 6.1.5. The flaw exists in the LdapCommentAuthenticator component, which improperly neutralizes input by reflecting request parameters into an HTML form without escaping. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary scripts in the context of the victim's browser if the victim's session has loaded the authenticator form and the victim follows a maliciously crafted link. The vulnerability is fixed in Apache Roller 6.1.6 and later by properly escaping reflected values.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to limited confidentiality and integrity impacts by executing arbitrary scripts in the victim's browser session, potentially allowing session hijacking or other malicious actions within the context of the affected site. There is no impact on availability. The vulnerability requires user interaction (clicking a crafted link) and only affects sites using the LdapCommentAuthenticator.

Mitigation Recommendations

Users should upgrade to Apache Roller version 6.1.6 or later, where the reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability has been fixed by escaping the reflected input values. No other mitigation is indicated or required.
