Published: 09/16/2026 (09/16/2026, 15:31:10 UTC)
Source: CVE Database V5
Vendor/Project: Jenkins Project
Product: Jenkins Script Security Plugin

Description

Jenkins Script Security Plugin 1415.v9a_f9b_3a_c253d and earlier does not reject the @GroovyASTTransformationClass annotation, allowing attackers with permission to define and run sandboxed scripts, including Pipelines, to run an arbitrary AST transformation at compile time, bypassing the sandbox protection and executing arbitrary code in the context of the Jenkins controller JVM.

Technical Analysis

Jenkins Script Security Plugin versions up to and including 1415.v9a_f9b_3a_c253d do not reject the @GroovyASTTransformationClass annotation. This flaw allows attackers who have permission to define and run sandboxed scripts, including Pipelines, to execute arbitrary AST transformations at compile time. Consequently, this bypasses the sandbox protection mechanism and enables arbitrary code execution within the Jenkins controller JVM context.

Potential Impact

An attacker with permission to run sandboxed scripts can bypass sandbox restrictions and execute arbitrary code on the Jenkins controller JVM. This could lead to full compromise of the Jenkins server environment, depending on the privileges of the Jenkins process.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, restrict permissions to run sandboxed scripts to trusted users only to reduce risk.
