Technical Analysis

The YITH WooCommerce Popup plugin prior to version 1.60.0 contains an incorrect authorization vulnerability (CWE-863). It does not properly check the capability of the requesting user before permitting deletion of post meta data. As a result, users with the Contributor role and above can delete arbitrary post meta from any post, potentially affecting content owned by higher-privileged users.

Potential Impact

Users with Contributor role or higher can delete arbitrary post meta from any post, including posts owned by users with higher privileges. This could lead to unauthorized modification or removal of metadata associated with posts, potentially impacting site content integrity or plugin functionality.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the YITH WooCommerce Popup plugin to version 1.60.0 or later where this authorization issue is fixed. No other mitigation guidance is provided. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the input, but the presence of a fixed version (1.60.0) implies an official fix is available.
