A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this race condition. Users should update to the patched kernel versions listed or later to remediate this issue. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
A race condition vulnerability in the Linux kernel's arm_scmi firmware component has been resolved. The issue occurs when two SCMI drivers for the same protocol unregister concurrently, leading to a use-after-free and potential double free of a list head. This happens because the function scmi_protocol_device_unrequest() drops a mutex while notifying listeners but continues to retain the per-protocol list head, causing unsafe concurrent access. The fix ensures list and IDR updates complete before dropping the mutex and moves the blocking notifier outside the critical section.
