Description
CVE-2026-92508 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's RDMA core subsystem affecting versions 5.8.17 up to but not including 5.9, 5.9.2 up to but not including 5.10, and exactly 5.10. The flaw occurs in the ib_free_cq() function where the synchronization mechanism is insufficient, allowing a short window where a completion queue (CQ) remains accessible after its resources have been freed. This can lead to memory corruption and potentially allow an attacker with local privileges to cause denial of service or escalate privileges. The issue has been fixed by reordering the call to rdma_restrack_del() to occur before freeing vendor-specific resources, preventing new references to a CQ during its destruction.
