A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel by adjusting the synchronization mechanism in the QP destruction path. Users should apply the updated kernel versions that include this fix. Since this is a kernel-level issue, upgrading to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation.
Description
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's RDMA core component (ib_query_qp) has been resolved. The issue arises because the synchronization mechanism for querying a Queue Pair (QP) is insufficient, allowing access to QP resources after they have been destroyed but before removal from the tracking database. This could lead to use-after-free conditions during QP queries. The fix involves moving the deletion synchronization to the start of the QP destroy function to prevent access during destruction.
