Technical Analysis

The SPS-Suite WordPress plugin through version 1.4.0 fails to sanitize user input in the search query parameter used in SQL statements when the static-page search feature is enabled. This lack of input validation enables unauthenticated attackers to perform SQL injection attacks against the underlying database.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation could allow attackers to manipulate SQL queries, potentially leading to unauthorized data access, data modification, or other database-related impacts. The vulnerability affects unauthenticated users, increasing the risk of exploitation.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official patch or remediation is currently provided. Users should monitor the vendor's advisory for updates. Until a fix is available, disabling the static-page search feature or restricting access to it may reduce exposure.
