This vulnerability is fixed in the Linux kernel commits 34746b5a84ec37c0ea2bf6808c65c5ed8790eb51 and 408b6d3bc19c4aa852ab7ee2f447756e52e69967. Users should update to the fixed Linux kernel version 6.9 or later. No additional mitigation is required once the fixed kernel is deployed.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem allowed interpreter fallback for arena-related instructions, which the interpreter does not support. This caused kernel crashes (BUG_ON) when executing these instructions. The issue has been fixed by disallowing interpreter fallback for arena-related instructions and requiring JIT compilation when arena maps are used.
