A fix is available in Linux kernel version 4.15 and later. Users should upgrade to version 4.15 or apply the relevant patches that address this issue. Since this is a kernel vulnerability, upgrading the kernel is the recommended remediation. No additional mitigation steps are indicated by the vendor advisory.
Description
CVE-2026-93054 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's UIO subsystem affecting versions >=4.14.100 <4.15 and 4.18. It involves a stale pointer to a uio_info structure after a failed device registration, which can lead to use-after-free conditions when userspace opens the device concurrently. This flaw allows dereferencing freed memory during file operations. The issue is fixed by properly handling failures after device_add() to clear the info pointer and notify userspace of device removal.
