A fix is available that removes the broken and unused string configfs attributes and the associated macro from the Linux kernel usb gadget f_uac1_legacy code. Users should apply the updated kernel versions that include this removal to resolve the issue.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's usb gadget function f_uac1_legacy involved broken string configfs attributes. The UAC1_STR_ATTRIBUTE macro defined handlers with a flawed store function that incorrectly handled memory allocation results, causing write attempts to return errors on success and dereferencing NULL pointers on allocation failure. These attributes have been broken and unused for many years and have now been removed. The internal defaults for audio allocation remain unaffected.
