A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue by modifying memory allocation behavior in the TX EQTR call tree. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix. Patch status is confirmed by the resolution note. No additional mitigation actions are specified or required.

Description

A memory reclaim deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's UFS core subsystem was resolved. The issue occurs when TX EQTR runs while the UFS tagset is quiesced during devfreq gear scaling, causing memory allocations with GFP_KERNEL that may trigger direct reclaim. This can lead to a deadlock because reclaim/writeback depends on I/O to the UFS device, which is quiesced. The fix involves using memalloc_noio_save/restore() to cover all allocations in the TX EQTR call tree, preventing deadlock scenarios.
