A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this vulnerability. Users should apply the official kernel updates that include this fix for the affected linux-hwe-edge versions. Since this is a kernel-level issue, upgrading to patched kernel versions is the recommended remediation.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's arm_scmi firmware component related to transport device teardown lookup has been resolved. The issue involved improper handling of SCMI transport devices during channel teardown, allowing malformed firmware with duplicate protocol child nodes to reuse and destroy existing transport devices. This flaw was fixed by splitting the device matching logic to correctly exclude transport devices from normal matching while allowing explicit lookup during teardown, and by rejecting duplicate protocol channel setups. The vulnerability affects specific versions of the linux-hwe-edge kernel.
