A fix has been implemented that adds a per-mailbox mutex to serialize multi-part Get/Set Feature transfers, preventing interleaving and corruption. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions containing this fix. Patch status is confirmed by the description of the resolved vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's cxl/features subsystem allows concurrent multi-part Get or Set Feature transfers to interleave, potentially corrupting the device's transfer context. This occurs because the existing mailbox mutex only serializes individual mailbox commands but does not serialize the entire multi-part transfer. The issue affects specific Linux kernel versions used in various Ubuntu LTS releases. A fix has been implemented by adding a per-mailbox mutex to serialize the entire transfer, preventing interleaving.
