A fix for this deadlock vulnerability is available and has been applied in Linux kernel versions 5.10.270, 5.15.221, 6.1.188, 6.6.157, 6.12.110, 6.18.52, and later. Users and administrators should update to these fixed kernel versions to resolve the deadlock issue. No additional mitigation actions are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
A deadlock vulnerability in the Linux kernel's rpmsg glink driver occurs during endpoint destruction in the driver detach process. The issue arises because the device mutex is held throughout the driver's remove callback, and the redundant unregistration of the rpmsg device attempts to reacquire this mutex, causing the module removal to hang indefinitely. This deadlock has been fixed by removing the redundant device unregistration call.
