A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to address this issue. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions identified by the provided commit hashes. No additional mitigation steps are necessary beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's media subsystem involving v4l2-async handling causes a crash when an em28xx USB device using the i2c tvp5150 driver is disconnected. The issue arises because the em28xx driver predates v4l2_async and does not properly unregister sub-devices when the asc_list is empty. This leads to v4l2_async_unregister_subdev() not calling v4l2_device_unregister_subdev(), resulting in a crash. The vulnerability has been fixed by modifying the code to ensure unregistration occurs even if asc_list is empty.
