AI-suggested
A fix is available in the Linux kernel. The vulnerability has been resolved by adding validation of the dirty_tail chain at load time to prevent infinite loops. Users should update to a fixed kernel version containing the commits identified by the fixedVersions hashes. No additional mitigation is indicated.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's dm-pcache subsystem involves improper validation of the persisted dirty_tail chain at load time. An attacker can craft a cache image that causes the dirty_tail chain to form a non-terminating loop, leading the writeback worker to continuously re-arm itself without delay. This flaw has been fixed by adding validation that walks the dirty_tail chain once at load and fails the table load if the chain does not terminate within a bounded number of hops.
