AI-suggested
A fix has been implemented that changes the initialization order in the Linux kernel source code to ensure the DRC hash table is fully initialized before the shrinker is registered. Users should apply the updated kernel versions that include this fix. Patch status is not explicitly stated but the vulnerability is described as resolved, indicating an official fix is available. Check vendor advisories or distribution updates for patched kernel versions.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's nfsd component related to the initialization order of the DRC hash table has been resolved. On weakly-ordered architectures such as arm64 and ppc, the shrinker scan could observe an uninitialized drc_hashsize, leading to a NULL pointer dereference in the DRC shrinker callback. The fix involves initializing the bucket list heads and drc_hashsize before registering the shrinker to ensure proper initialization before use.
