This vulnerability has been fixed in specific Linux kernel commits (e7c1923c5f30a6953f0540e3171d882ec17b05d3, a4c940ab3f794f221a338c9431ad1ce0d73a2bea, 46761406e14381dc35f498c247a87565b87ea2ef, 90f095b816e25c6a9e4446d299bac5007fdcb3df). Users and administrators should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the official patch.

Description

A time-of-check to time-of-use (TOCTOU) vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel's print_page_owner_memcg() function. The function reads page->memcg_data multiple times without proper synchronization, which can lead to kernel crashes on debug builds if the page is concurrently freed and reallocated. The issue affects Linux kernel version 5.18 and has been fixed by using a memcg_data snapshot throughout the function to avoid TOCTOU conditions.
