AI-suggested

This vulnerability has been fixed in the Linux kernel. The fix initializes gigantic bootmem HugeTLB struct pages earlier in the boot process (in page_alloc_init_late()) to ensure valid struct page state before zone contiguity evaluation. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes the fix identified by the commits b1b7c045e808c761b1cc8c19b3040fadedda3fef, 09505232eced5f1c42902d8f28740f070c3fc6dc, 29968bc7aefb3cf1e72aa7c5f52697a6b0527094, or 326de479ab5942fb4a4aa4f20c716045434fcd6b. No additional mitigation steps are indicated.

Description

CVE-2026-93230 is a Linux kernel vulnerability involving the initialization timing of gigantic bootmem HugeTLB struct pages. The issue arises because these pages were initialized later than other memory structures, causing the page allocator to potentially observe uninitialized struct pages during early boot. This could lead to incorrect zone contiguity computation and may trigger early boot panics if additional poisoned-page checks are enabled. The flaw has been fixed by initializing these struct pages earlier in the boot process, ensuring valid page state before zone contiguity evaluation.
