A fix for this vulnerability has been released in updated Linux kernel versions. Users should apply the official kernel updates that address this issue to ensure the pointers are properly nullified after free operations. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying the patch.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's iwlwifi PCIe driver was resolved that involved null RX pointers after free operations. When the iwl_pcie_tx_init() function fails after RX initialization, the cleanup function iwl_pcie_rx_free() frees RX members but leaves pointers non-NULL on the live transport object. This can cause later teardown or retry operations to access stale RX state, potentially leading to severe impacts. The fix sets the rx_pool, global_table, rxq, and alloc_page pointers to NULL after freeing to prevent unsafe repeated cleanup and retry paths.
