Technical Analysis

This vulnerability in vas3k TaxHacker affects versions 0.8.0 to 0.8.5 and involves the testLLMProviderAction function. By manipulating certain input parameters (provider, apiKey, model, baseUrl), an attacker can cause the server to make unauthorized requests to arbitrary URLs (SSRF). The vulnerability is remotely exploitable and has a CVSS 4.0 score of 6.9 (medium severity). The project was notified early but has not responded. The product is a cloud service, and a patch is available.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation allows an attacker to perform server-side request forgery, potentially enabling unauthorized internal network access or interaction with unintended resources. The CVSS score of 6.9 indicates a medium severity impact. There is no evidence of active exploitation in the wild at this time.

Mitigation Recommendations

A patch is available for this vulnerability. Since TaxHacker is a cloud-hosted service, the vendor is responsible for applying the fix.
