Technical Analysis

This vulnerability affects Netcore NBR200V2 version 1.3.241127.071246. The issue lies in the WAN VLAN reconfiguration component, where improper handling of the vlan_wanX.ports argument in the wan_config_set_vlan function leads to a buffer overflow. The vulnerability is remotely exploitable without user interaction and requires low privileges. The vendor was notified but has not responded or issued a fix. Public exploit code is available, increasing the risk of attacks.

Potential Impact

Successful exploitation can lead to a buffer overflow, potentially allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service on the affected device. Given the high CVSS score of 9.4 and the availability of public exploits, this vulnerability poses a critical risk to affected systems.

Mitigation Recommendations

No official fix or patch is currently available from the vendor. Users should monitor vendor communications for updates. Until a patch is released, consider restricting remote access to the device's WAN VLAN configuration interface to trusted networks only to reduce exposure.
