Technical Analysis

The App Builder WordPress plugin before version 5.7.1 contains a missing authorization vulnerability (CWE-862). This flaw permits unauthenticated attackers to write arbitrary data to one of the plugin's options. Additionally, the plugin can redirect visitors to a URI derived from the stored data on a separate unauthenticated request. The vulnerability has a CVSS 3.1 base score of 5.3, reflecting a network attack vector with low complexity, no privileges required, no user interaction, and an impact limited to integrity loss without confidentiality or availability impact.

Potential Impact

An attacker can modify plugin options without authentication, potentially injecting malicious data that leads to redirecting visitors to attacker-controlled URLs. This could be used for phishing or redirecting users to malicious sites. There is no direct confidentiality or availability impact reported.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fixed version 5.7.1 or later is available for the App Builder plugin. Users should upgrade to version 5.7.1 or newer to remediate this vulnerability. No other mitigation steps are indicated.
