Description

CVE-2026-94580 is a path traversal vulnerability in Brocade Fabric OS affecting versions before 10.0.1. Technical Analysis

This vulnerability (CVE-2026-94580) in Brocade Fabric OS arises from improper limitation of pathnames in the REST API management interface for USB storage operations. Authenticated users with USB management privileges can exploit this flaw to delete arbitrary files or directories on the device's root filesystem by crafting manipulated target paths, effectively bypassing USB mount point boundaries. The issue affects all Fabric OS versions prior to 10.0.1.

Potential Impact

An attacker with authenticated USB management privileges can delete arbitrary files or directories on the switch's local root filesystem, potentially disrupting device operation or causing data loss. The vulnerability requires authentication and specific privileges, limiting the attack scope. There is no indication of remote unauthenticated exploitation or privilege escalation beyond USB management rights.

Mitigation Recommendations

A fix is available in Brocade Fabric OS version 10.0.1. Users should upgrade to version 10.0.1 or later to remediate this vulnerability. Until patched, restrict USB management privileges to trusted administrators only. Monitor vendor advisories for any additional guidance.
