Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-95179 affects lottie-android up to version 6.7.1 and the master branch. The flaw arises when a maliciously crafted Lottie animation JSON contains a cyclic precomposition reference graph. This cycle causes uncontrolled recursion in the BaseLayer.forModel and CompositionLayer components, resulting in a denial of service condition due to resource exhaustion or application crash.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service by crashing or hanging the application processing the malicious Lottie animation JSON. There is no indication of code execution or data compromise from the provided information.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a fix is available, avoid processing untrusted or unauthenticated Lottie animation JSON inputs that could contain cyclic references.
