AI-suggested

Red Hat has issued an official security advisory (RHSA-2026:74503) that includes fixes addressing this vulnerability. Users should apply the updated packages provided by Red Hat Satellite 6.19.5 or later as recommended in the advisory. Systems with Safemode protections disabled should re-enable them to reduce risk. No additional mitigation is required once patches are applied.

Description

CVE-2026-96659 is a critical vulnerability in Red Hat Satellite 6.16 for RHEL 8 involving Foreman. It allows an authenticated user with low-level Viewer permissions to cause unauthorized information disclosure by accessing template preview endpoints, potentially exposing sensitive data such as host root passwords. Additionally, if Safemode protections are disabled, the vulnerability may permit arbitrary command execution as the Foreman system account.
