Technical Analysis
CVE-2026-96661 describes a time-based SQL Injection vulnerability in the Gmedia Photo Gallery plugin for WordPress, affecting all versions up to and including 1.25.1. The vulnerability arises from insufficient escaping of the 'gmedia__in' parameter and lack of proper preparation of the SQL query. The mobile app endpoint dispatches the library action without validating the Mobile App feature flag, nonce, or WordPress authentication, enabling unauthenticated attackers to append malicious SQL commands and extract sensitive data from the database.
Potential Impact
An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to perform time-based SQL Injection attacks, potentially extracting sensitive information from the database. The vulnerability does not affect integrity or availability but has a high confidentiality impact. No authentication or user interaction is required to exploit this flaw.
Mitigation Recommendations
Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until a patch is available, restrict access to the vulnerable mobile app endpoint if possible and monitor for suspicious activity targeting this parameter.
