Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-97183 is an information exposure vulnerability (CWE-200) in the WP-Invoice WordPress plugin through version 4.3.1. The flaw arises because the plugin does not enforce proper capability checks in multiple AJAX handlers. As a result, any authenticated user, regardless of privilege level, can retrieve sensitive user information such as email addresses, display names, and profile details of all registered users on the site.

Potential Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of sensitive user information to any authenticated user, including those with minimal privileges. Exposure of email addresses and profile details can facilitate targeted phishing, social engineering, or further attacks against users or the site.

Mitigation Recommendations

Patch status is not yet confirmed — check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance. Until an official fix is available, restrict user roles that can authenticate or disable the WP-Invoice plugin if possible to prevent exploitation.
