Technical Analysis

The Responsive Blocks WordPress plugin versions prior to 2.3.0 do not properly sanitize or escape certain user-submitted values in the Form block before including them in HTML notification emails sent to site owners. This improper neutralization of special elements (CWE-74) enables unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary HTML content, such as phishing links, into these emails.

Potential Impact

An attacker can inject arbitrary HTML into notification emails sent to the site owner, potentially enabling phishing attacks or other malicious content delivery through these emails. The confidentiality and integrity of the email content can be compromised, but there is no indication of impact on availability or direct code execution.

Mitigation Recommendations

Upgrade the Responsive Blocks plugin to version 2.3.0 or later, where this vulnerability is fixed. Since no official patch link is provided, verify the plugin version and update accordingly to ensure the issue is resolved.
