AI-suggested

A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to switch the multicast calls to genlmsg_multicast_netns(), ensuring that netlink notifications are delivered within the correct network namespace. Users should apply the updated kernel versions containing this fix. Patch status is not explicitly confirmed in the input data; therefore, check the vendor advisory for current remediation guidance.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's HSR generic netlink family was resolved. The issue involved broadcast netlink notifications being sent only to the default network namespace (init_net), causing listeners in other namespaces not to receive their own device events and privileged listeners in init_net to receive events from other namespaces. This behavior was due to the use of genlmsg_multicast() instead of genlmsg_multicast_netns(), which was corrected.
