A fix is available that adds validation of the partition index before array access, returning an error if the index is negative. Users should apply the official Linux kernel updates that include this fix. Since this is not a cloud service, remediation depends on applying the updated kernel versions.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's cxl/region component was resolved where an out-of-bounds array access could occur due to lack of validation of a partition index before use. Specifically, the construct_region() function reads a partition index that can remain at its initial negative value (-1) if the partition was never resolved, leading to unsafe array indexing. The fix adds a guard to return an error when the partition index is negative.
