AI-suggested

A fix is available that clamps the cp_hqd_cntl_stack_size and cp_hqd_cntl_stack_offset values to the allocated buffer size before copying memory to user space, preventing out-of-bounds reads. Users should apply the official Linux kernel patches that address this vulnerability. Since this is a kernel-level issue, upgrading to patched kernel versions or applying vendor-provided updates is the recommended mitigation.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's drm/amdkfd component allows out-of-bounds memory exposure via the get_wave_state() function. This occurs because the function trusts attacker-controlled values from GPU microcode on the CRIU-restore path, leading to an unbounded copy_to_user() operation that can leak adjacent kernel memory. The flaw is fixed by clamping the stack size and offset to prevent reading beyond allocated buffers.
