A fix is available in Linux kernel version 6.1 and later, which adds a CAP_SYS_ADMIN capability check to the __resource_resize_store() function. Users should update to the fixed kernel version to prevent unprivileged BAR resize operations.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's PCI/sysfs interface allowed unprivileged users to resize PCI Base Address Registers (BARs) via the __resource_resize_store() function without proper capability checks. This could disrupt active device drivers by modifying PCI device configuration. The issue has been fixed by adding a CAP_SYS_ADMIN capability check to restrict this operation to privileged users.
