A fix has been implemented in the Linux kernel to explicitly clear the SLVSTART status bit after emitting the STOP condition in the Master Request IBI handler when the SVC_I3C_QUIRK_FALSE_SLVSTART quirk is set. Users should apply the updated Linux kernel versions containing this fix to prevent the IRQ storm and CPU lockup. Patch status is confirmed by the resolved vulnerability statement.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's I3C master controller driver on NPCM845 hardware causes an IRQ storm due to a feedback loop triggered by a false SLVSTART interrupt. This occurs when a target device holds the SDA line low, causing the controller to emit repeated STOP conditions and lock up the CPU. The issue has been resolved by explicitly clearing the SLVSTART status bit after emitting the STOP condition, breaking the feedback loop without affecting normal operation.
