This vulnerability has been fixed in Linux kernel version 5.7 and later commits identified by the provided fix hashes. Users and administrators should update to a fixed kernel version containing these patches to remediate the issue. No additional mitigation steps are required beyond applying the official fix.
Description
CVE-2026-97562 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's SMB client related to handling DFS superblocks. The flaw arises because a raw superblock pointer is stored without taking an active reference early enough, allowing concurrent DFS automount expiry to free the superblock before it is used. This can lead to a kernel slab-use-after-free bug, potentially causing system crashes or arbitrary code execution. The issue affects Linux kernel version 5.7 and has been fixed in subsequent commits.
