AI-suggested
This vulnerability has been fixed in the Linux kernel. Users should update to a kernel version that includes the fix identified by commits 667feba13e78d16393aacb15869f70970f422227 and 5be5bdda5863eacc964b609ba927764f253431b3. Avoid using SMB1 protocol (vers=1.0) mounts where possible to reduce exposure.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel SMB1 client allows a malicious SMB1 server to cause out-of-bounds reads by providing a crafted DataOffset in CIFSSMBRead(). This can lead to information disclosure or denial of service. The issue is fixed by validating that DataOffset plus DataLength fits within the received response buffer before copying data.
