A patch is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. Users should update to the fixed versions identified by the commits d0502ed0a1aae97e2ab7a21545903ba612d9f02e, 41b5e0ce6801bf04d8fd3bca46e8c393349ebd5c, and 20db6573301e66cd65ebf6c130b6563c69374d9d. Since this is a kernel-level fix, applying the updated kernel version 6.16 or later containing these commits will remediate the issue.
Description
A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's iommu/s390 subsystem. The flaw occurs in the iova_to_phys() function when using a 5-level translation table with ZPCI_TABLE_TYPE_RFX, where a missing NULL check leads to a potential kernel crash when accessing an unmapped IOVA. The issue has been resolved by adding the necessary NULL check to prevent dereferencing a NULL pointer.
