AI-suggested
A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users and administrators should update affected Linux kernel versions to the fixed releases identified by the provided commit hashes. No additional mitigation is required once the kernel is updated. There is no indication of active exploitation in the wild.
Description
CVE-2026-97611 is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Open vSwitch (OVS) component affecting version 5.9. The flaw occurs due to improper handling of the flow table mask array during reallocation, where the old mask array is retired before it is no longer reachable, leading to a window where a reader can access freed memory. This can cause kernel memory corruption and potentially allow an attacker with local privileges to compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system. The issue has been fixed by changing the order of operations to publish the new array before retiring the old one.
