Technical Analysis

CVE-2026-9766 is an authorization bypass vulnerability (CWE-862) in the Empik for Woocommerce WordPress plugin affecting all versions up to 1.5.1. The plugin fails to properly verify user authorization before allowing modification of WooCommerce product metadata. As a result, authenticated users with subscriber-level privileges or above can alter product metadata such as _empik_logistic_klass, _empik_product_state, _empik_product_state_all_variants, and Empik export and offer flags on any product in the store.

Potential Impact

The vulnerability allows unauthorized modification of product metadata by users with subscriber-level access or higher. This can lead to integrity issues with product data, potentially affecting logistics, product state, and export configurations within the WooCommerce store. There is no indication of confidentiality or availability impact. No known exploits are reported in the wild.

Mitigation Recommendations

No patch or official fix is currently available for this vulnerability. Users should monitor the vendor advisory for updates. Until a fix is released, restrict subscriber-level user permissions where possible and review user roles to limit exposure.
