A fix is available and has been applied in multiple Linux kernel commits. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes these fixes. The patch rejects parameters exceeding fixed buffer sizes and corrects the maximum fragment size to prevent buffer overflows. No additional mitigation is required if the system is updated.
Description
CVE-2026-97910 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's ASoC sprd driver where compress buffer sizes are not properly validated against fixed buffer allocations. This flaw allows a local user to specify fragment sizes and buffer sizes that exceed the allocated memory areas, leading to buffer overflows in IRAM and DDR buffers. The issue is due to missing checks in sprd_platform_compr_copy() and improper advertised maximum fragment sizes. The vulnerability has been fixed by rejecting parameters that exceed the fixed buffer sizes and correcting the advertised limits.
