A fix for this vulnerability has been implemented in the Linux kernel sunvdc driver by rolling back mappings and resetting descriptor states on trigger failure. Users should apply the updated kernel versions containing this fix to prevent map table exhaustion and related disk I/O failures.
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's sunvdc driver causes a permanent leak of map table entries when the descriptor send fails during I/O operations. This leak leads to exhaustion and fragmentation of the fixed-size map table, resulting in large multi-segment requests failing and the disk becoming unusable until reboot. Retry attempts worsen the leak by orphaning previous mappings. The issue has been resolved by rolling back the mapping on failure and properly resetting the descriptor state.
