AI-suggested

The issue is fixed in the Linux kernel by removing debugfs entries on probe failure. Users should update to a Linux kernel version that includes the fix identified by the commits fdc1bc23ff59ee308042342cefcb918d6efba409, ae01aafd8214e48cb7eff11e92dfbf3778d52d9d, a5de53b08cc319dadce6fb68d33749ea37962952, or 4ee875c423c66c45d7ef7bbff403cd0e3971e0a2. No additional mitigation is required once patched.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's hwmon subsystem (corsair-cpro driver) was fixed by ensuring debugfs entries are removed when the probe fails. Previously, if hwmon_device_register_with_info() failed after debugfs files were registered, the probe would return without removing these entries, leaving behind debugfs files that referenced freed memory. This could lead to use-after-free conditions when reading those files.
