Description
A use-after-free (UAF) vulnerability was identified and fixed in the Linux kernel's hwmon subsystem within the pec_store function. The issue arises when an error during a chip write operation leads to premature freeing of a device while a mutex lock is still held, causing the cleanup code to unlock a freed mutex. This flaw has been addressed by replacing the guard() mechanism with scoped_guard() to ensure proper mutex handling.
