AI-suggested

A fix is available in Linux kernel version 6.6.158 and later, as well as in version 6.7. Users should upgrade to these fixed versions to remediate the vulnerability. No additional mitigation steps are indicated or required.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's bpf_loop helper allowed non-scalar iteration counts to be passed, which could cause kernel panics on systems with panic_on_warn enabled. The issue arises because bpf_loop's nr_loops argument was declared as ARG_ANYTHING, permitting pointer values that lead to verifier warnings and potential kernel panic. This has been fixed by introducing ARG_SCALAR for the nr_loops argument to reject pointers before processing.
