Description
CVE-2026-98020 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel's pds_core component involving a race condition during BAR unmap on device reset. The flaw occurs when cmd_regs is accessed concurrently while being unmapped, potentially causing NULL dereferences or writes to unmapped memory. The issue arises from improper locking and re-checking of cmd_regs during firmware update and reset sequences. The vulnerability affects specific Linux kernel versions prior to 6.6.158, 6.8, and certain 6.7.x versions. Fixes have been applied in Linux kernel version 6.6.158 and later, including 6.8.
