AI-suggested

A fix is available and has been applied in the Linux kernel. Users should update to the fixed kernel versions identified by the commits 7441ee8276641bddaf1cba7bb75ef9c1458ceb3b, 135d542b97fa93e32c457d49d6e7b33ca7d05bae, 092c2874dc1b2060fa77a465a971acd4fdf87683, and 6b1f786ad85a0b63393b76f5e634deab1a73198c. No additional mitigation is required beyond applying these patches.

Description

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's BPF subsystem allows dereferencing of untrusted or stale pointers after the end of an RCU read-side critical section. This occurs because certain pointer checks do not properly reject demoted PTR_UNTRUSTED pointers that retain MEM_ALLOC, potentially leading to dereferencing NULL or stale memory. The issue has been fixed by modifying type_is_ptr_alloc_obj() to reject PTR_UNTRUSTED pointers, ensuring that graph kfunc arguments meet live-object requirements.
