A fix is available in the Linux kernel. The vulnerability is resolved by the patch that replaces the unsafe napi_gro_receive() call with netif_receive_skb() in the garbage-collection path. Users should update to a fixed kernel version containing the patch identified by commits 4375b3d1c2898886df1f908160c7004bdd938e73, 7ddcc460176eb34f9bc5bda3cc274d0d24dc62a9, or 2ac174dfcdde399fa95ba889541fb5e688d8bb35. No other mitigation is required.
Description
CVE-2026-98050 is a high-severity vulnerability in the Linux kernel's mlxsw spectrum_ptp driver. It involves unsafe concurrent mutation of the NAPI GRO list due to a call to napi_gro_receive() from a garbage-collection workqueue context, which can run concurrently with the NAPI poll thread on another CPU. This race condition can lead to kernel panic and system crashes. The issue is fixed by changing the packet delivery method to use netif_receive_skb(), which is safe to call outside the NAPI poll context.
